In the Balance (I Bring the Fire, #3.5) This was a great novella The alternate universe concept was intriguing it is nice to see Amy gainunderstanding of how her Loki really did care for her and figure out what she will do with her life in the aftermath of everything that s happened This book felt like a delicious appetizer though while enjoyable, it makes me wantI just cannot wait till the 4th book I will start reading the day it s released, which can t come too soon at all Amy Lewis Is Sure She Ll Never See Loki Again, But When Chaos Is Involved Nothing Is CertainCalled Into ADUO S Offices To Identify A Magical Artifact, Amy Is Taken On A Journey Beyond The Universe Itself She Comes Face To Face With The Good And The Bad Of The Forces Of Order And Chaos, And Has To Chose For Herself Which Of Many Imperfect Paths To TakeThe Fate Of The Nine Realms Is In The Balance This Time, It S In Amy S HandsAn I Bring The Fire Novella That Takes Place After Chaos Just as wonderfully written as the rest of the series We get to learn a bitthat paints the bigger picture much brighter. This was a nice, short read If you enjoy the other books, you ll enjoy this one I don t recommend starting with it, though But you should never start with a book from the middle of a series in the first place. I Fitted this in and I m glad I did After the end of book 3 I wasn t sure that I was going to like it going forward but I was happily surprised This had some very interesting twists Parallel universe sort of story, like the author took a detour to explore alternative storylines for the main characters Fun. In the Balance uses the novella format to cleverly bridge between the two halves of the I Bring the Fire series Finishing book 3, Chaos , left me broken and I wasn t keen on reading book 4, Fates , because in my mind it wouldn t be the same In the Balance gives readers a chance to come to terms with and distance themselves from the events of Chaos and primes them to accept the big shift in Fates with a fresh optimism. This is a masterful, tactical piece of storytelling, designed to steer In the Balance uses the novella format to cleverly bridge between the two halves of the I Bring the Fire series Finishing book 3, Chaos , left me broken and I wasn t keen on reading book 4, Fates , because in my mind it wouldn t be the same In the Balance gives readers a chance to come to terms with and distance themselves from the events of Chaos and primes them to accept the big shift in Fates with a fresh optimism. This is a masterful, tactical piece of storytelling, designed to steer you round the sharpe curves Gockel not only writes great fiction she s sensitive to readers expectations, needs, and reaction Respect I have a love hate relationship with this one I loved the story, I hated that it was to short I loved Loki and how he saved her, and then I hated Loki and how he treated her Loved how she finally sees that he gave her everything Sorry can t get into it without giving story away read series in order and you re bound to feel close to my love hate syndrome Oh and I HATE the start of the next book Darn it. A fill in the gaps novellaI read In the Balance out of sequence and I am happy for that This story is a spoiler about Amy s motivation for the rest of the series After completion of a series I enjoy reading extra scenes that were deleted or that didn t quite fit into the main series.
